Community Maternity Services (CMS), an agency of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, was founded in 1971 as a single residential program providing services to pregnant adolescents. The agency has grown to meet the changing needs of our communities' children, adolescents, and families. Today CMS provides a continuum of services including care for pregnant and parenting adolescents and their families; group residence and family care for children; prevention services and supports for families at risk, as well as daycare services, adoption services, foster care services, and respite services.

To enhance the quality services we have provided for 40 years, CMS is implementing The Sanctuary® Model into our practice. This model provides a whole system, trauma-informed approach to treatment and healing.

The Sanctuary® Model is a guide for creating a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes physical, psychological, social, and moral safety for our clients and the people who care for them.
