Transitional Living Maternity Program (TLMP) for Runaway and Homeless Youth
The Joyce Center originally opened in 1971 as the “Maternity Center” and was our agency's first program. It provided a residential setting for pregnant adolescents whose life situation placed them at risk of harm.   As community needs have changed over the years the Joyce Center has adapted their mission. We now provide comprehensive transitional living services for pregnant and parenting Runaway and Homeless Youth between the ages of 16 and 21. The goal of this program is to assist these young woman acquire the skills needed to become self-sufficient in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Youth can reside in the TLMP program for up to 18 months. The Joyce Center provides the following services:

  • Supportive housing that meets all of their basic needs
  • Independent Living Skills education (on both an individual and group level)
  • Parenting education and support
  • Educational Coordination and tutoring
  • Medical Care coordination and support
  • Clinical Counseling to include youth, putative fathers and/or primary resource person
  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Recreational Therapy
  • Childcare to enable youth to go to school, work and/or participate in all activities associated with the program
  • Job opportunities
  • Full range of assessment and referral services
  • Case management
  • Advocacy
  • Mentoring
  • Comprehensive discharge planning & 90 days of aftercare services

Our group home services provide a continuum of services for pregnant and parenting youth who are part of the foster care system.
