Community Maternity Services of Fulton County provides home-based case management services to pregnant and parenting mothers, their babies, and families. Families are linked to medical care and assistance in obtaining necessities such as food, clothing, and baby items. Young mothers are encouraged to develop goals in the areas of education, employment, child-care, parenting, and personal capabilities. Linkage is made to other community services to assist the mother in getting her needs and goals met.
CMS shows parents how to be their children's first and most important teacher using the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum during home visits. Parent/child activities demonstrate how to build babies' brain development, increase bonding and school readiness, and how to recognize and enhance children's developmental stages.
A Certified Lactation Specialist/Counselor is available to provide breastfeeding support to program participants.
